Build the capacity to keep life expansive.

Reframe Aging is a Denver physical therapy and healthy aging platform led by Tim Nguyen, PT, DPT, GCS — helping adults build the strength, balance, mobility, and resilience to keep doing what matters. From fall recovery and back pain to preparation for the decades ahead, the work centers on one idea: aging is inevitable, but decline is not predetermined.

The Capacity Principle

The difference between thriving and struggling is rarely age itself.

When capacity exceeds demand, people flourish. When demand exceeds capacity, life gets smaller — but the gap can change in either direction.

Capacity is your ability to meet the physical demands of life — walking through an airport, getting up from the floor, carrying groceries, bouncing back from being sick. What gets blamed on age alone often reflects a more changeable mix of strength, activity, health, confidence, and environment.

The useful question is not only, “How strong are you?” It is, “Strong enough for the suitcase, the stairs, the floor, and the trip you still want to take?”

The goal is not simply to live longer. It is to maintain the capacity to keep doing what matters most — on your own terms, for as long as possible.

Geriatric Functional Milestones

Ten everyday markers of physical capacity. A change in any of them is worth a closer look — not because decline is inevitable, but because change is easier to address when it is noticed early.

  • Get on and off the floor
  • Walk without a cane or walker
  • Navigate stairs without a rail
Signature Service

Most people monitor their blood pressure.
Few monitor their physical capacity.

The Annual Capacity Assessment is the yearly checkup for what your body can actually do — strength, mobility, balance, and long-term function.

Continuum of Care

Beyond recovery. Toward lifelong capability.

Most clinical care engages with aging reactively — after the fall, after the diagnosis. Reframe Aging supports individuals across the full spectrum. Most practices stop at recovery. This one doesn’t.

Stage 01

Recovery

Restoring function after injury, illness, or surgery — with the goal of returning to and surpassing prior capacity.

Stage 02

Optimization

Building strength, mobility, balance, and confidence beyond baseline. Expanding what is possible, not simply returning to where you were.

Stage 03

Preparation

Reducing modifiable risk and building reserve before it is needed. Preparing for demands not yet encountered.

Stage 04

Participation

Staying in the life you want. Training for the tasks that define a capable life at 80 and beyond.
